Working Hard

These odd scraps were then hauled to church to be sorted by color & value to see just what was possible. (Kind of like dumping a dozen puzzles on the table, and then wondering where to begin.)

As the fabrics are sorted, they then get bagged up
 as possible quilt creations.

As you can see there is a BROAD range of colors, prints, not to mention all the odd sizes. Now don't get me wrong, every piece of fabric does and will get used. Eventually.....

Here's the label that is added to every quilt

More sorting under way!

First everyone was fed a good meal, and then to work we went in 3 different rooms! It was a fun night and very productive! Planning to do something similar very soon.

Quilting involves many steps. There is pressing that needs to be done throughout the session.

 Here's Eila hard at work

Nancy Kane surprised us one evening, and got right to work!

Kathy Rogerson with a hand boo boo, she's unstoppable!

Here's Ann, hand tying a quilt.

Eila is pinning a quilt, before it gets tied

We often work as teams to complete certain tasks

Oh, that's me, Sheila, I am usually behind the camera.

Team work on this one! Great job ladies!!!

Love this picture so much!!! Grandma & Granddaughter
working side by side, you ladies are awesome!!!

The next few pic's show some of the tools we use in quilting. Kathy is cutting fabric on a cutting mat with a rotary cutter, using a special ruler.

Evie learned to sew here in our group, and was blessed with a new machine on her birthday!

Marguerite has been a huge blessing to us. She is an avid quilter who has donated mounds of yardage and leftover scraps to our mission, as well as standing in the gap for me when I was unable to be at the class. (Thanks Marg!!!)

In the above and below pictures, you will see some of the same fabrics used in different ways.

Hope you enjoyed the stroll down memory lane... We've sure been blessed.
