Did I hear You Say - You Can't Do It?

Nonsense! Of course you can do this!

In all of my teaching classes, the hardest part was threading the needle! So don't forget your readers!

No worries. Fabrics will be coordinated. Machines will be set up. And coffee will be on.

You can go as fast as you like or as slow as you like.

There is fabric to iron, cut and sew. Seams to be pressed. Not to mention when the quilts are finished they will need to be prayed over and packaged. There will be several tables, and several machines. And a bunch of fabric to begin cutting. All designs will be very, very basic. Nothing fancy (yet).

In the next few days I will figure out how to get some pictures on here. Margurite has been busy sewing up a storm the past 2 weeks. She has 2 quilt tops (lap size) finished so that we will have a starting place. Something to look at, touch and feel. Get ready!

Where Did The Name Come From?

You may have guessed I am not a native Floridian. I am indeed from up north, where the brooks are wonderful!

They freeze in the winter, they rush in the spring, in summer they are gentle, calm and clear. In the autumn they are a bit of a reflecting pool. You may be asking just what does that have to do with quilting? Not a thing.

Well, that's not entirely true. Sewing to me is very relaxing as is being near a brook. The thought of the gentle sounds of water flowing, watching small fish, ducks relaxing, the reflections, and the beautiful rocks... Yes I love the brook, whether I am near, or just in my mind imagining being there.

The Brook is also very special to God. During a time of great famine, God told Elisha to go down to the Brook Cherith, where he sent a raven with food to sustain him during this difficult time. You see God used unusual things to meet Elisha's needs. Because of Elisha's obedience, his needs were met in a difficult time.

Here's where this is going- It is 2011, the world around doesn't look so wonderful. If you listen to the news etc... it becomes easy to let our faith slip. This is the right time to come together. To work side by side, develop new bonds and friends. This is the time to stand for things we believe in, leave the cares behind for a few hours. This outreach is for those from Victory and those who may not like to come to church, but sure would like some kindness and maybe a bit of prayer. I look forward to seeing you, first Wednesday & first Saturday.

A New Outreach Ministry Has Been Birthed

Hi there, I do believe this is the first post of a blog from Victory Worship Center!!!
This coming Sunday, a new outreach will be introduced for the first time. I can hardly wait. And I am looking forward to the response.

We are starting a quilting group. You can be a part of the fun, fellowship, and sewing by checking out the blog, attending the classes, or donating fabrics and supplies. The classes are designed for beginners, as are the projects. Our goal is to make very special quilts to be given to the family of a life donor, in memory of their greatest gift.

This is a project that began well over a year ago. The time has come to jump right in and get sewing. What could be better  than spending time with friends and making new friends. When life around becomes too stressed - that's the time to escape to a place, where you matter, you are wanted, you are needed, and you can do this! We look forward to spending time together.
