You may have guessed I am not a native Floridian. I am indeed from up north, where the brooks are wonderful!
They freeze in the winter, they rush in the spring, in summer they are gentle, calm and clear. In the autumn they are a bit of a reflecting pool. You may be asking just what does that have to do with quilting? Not a thing.
Well, that's not entirely true. Sewing to me is very relaxing as is being near a brook. The thought of the gentle sounds of water flowing, watching small fish, ducks relaxing, the reflections, and the beautiful rocks... Yes I love the brook, whether I am near, or just in my mind imagining being there.
The Brook is also very special to God. During a time of great famine, God told Elisha to go down to the Brook Cherith, where he sent a raven with food to sustain him during this difficult time. You see God used unusual things to meet Elisha's needs. Because of Elisha's obedience, his needs were met in a difficult time.
Here's where this is going- It is 2011, the world around doesn't look so wonderful. If you listen to the news etc... it becomes easy to let our faith slip. This is the right time to come together. To work side by side, develop new bonds and friends. This is the time to stand for things we believe in, leave the cares behind for a few hours. This outreach is for those from Victory and those who may not like to come to church, but sure would like some kindness and maybe a bit of prayer. I look forward to seeing you, first Wednesday & first Saturday.
